Those of you who were around on the old Board, should be familiar with the concept of karma. Positive karma is a way of "patting someone on the back", saying "good job" or even "I agree with you" (It is similar to the concept of the "Like" button on Facebook). Negative karma is a way of "booing" someone or saying, "I so don't agree with you". Also, you can hand out positive karma as a random act of kindness towards someone. Be careful handing out negative karma. If someone acquires 999 negative karma points, they are automatically banned. Sorry, Jim, there is no way to shut off that feature.

With the new Board, comes a new way of handing out karma. You can give someone karma in 2 different ways....

To give a specific post karma - right hand side of the post, under the avatar


To give a person karma - in the person's profile


With either of these options, once you click the + or - button, you will be taken to this page

Opps I lied. You can disable the banning feature. It has been disabled now so make sure to give Jim LOTS of - (negative) karma!

It is set up for you to get a PM when you get karma. I believe you can turn that off in your profile.

Ok I turned off pm me when I get karma. Is there any other way to see what post I got my karma from?

Not that I know of, however, this Mod is new to me and I am not familiar with all the nuances yet.

i think the only way to see what post gave the karma is to turn on the "comments" option. it makes you go through an extra step before you can give karma to someone though.

nevermind it tells you when it PM's you what post it was that you got karma for

You know, Min Joo, if you don't want all those e-mails but you want to know which post you got karma for you could turn on the PM notification (for karma) but turn off your e-mail notification (for PMs). You won't get an e-mail when you get a PM but you would still get the PMs & you can check them when you sign onto the Board.
